Photo 1 above : This picture hides 4 Worldchampions carom billiards ;-).   1. Raymond Ceulemans, the all time WC record holder receiving his price from John Merckaert. At the right hand side, standing up and clapping his hands, Clement van Hassel.  Sitting down with his head under the lamp at the right hand side looking straight into the camera, Leo Corin, and a bit more in the back standing up with a white shirt without tie, Joseph Vervest.

Should you have interesting books, magazines, photo's or other objects you would like to dispose off or are for sale certainly contact me!

I would like to thank the Merckaert family (numerous magazines & brochures), Guy Huybrechts (advise & inspiration), Dieter Haase, trustee of the Vienna Billiard Museum (magazines, brochures, books), Cees Sprangers the passionate billard journalist (tips, books & magazines), Luis Alberto Venosa my "compagnon de route" from Buenos Aires, Robert Van den Driessche (books), John Aerts (System Lapperre) and Bert van Manen (magazines & columns) for contributing extensively to the collection and the quality of our website.

There are lots of photo's about Clement Van Hassel, worldchampion straight rail in 1949 Madrid, dating from the early sixties.  Clement was the manager of the refreshment bar of the Flemish Opera in Antwerp which was also the home of billiard club "De Boerinnekens".

Together with the archives of John Merckaert, former president of this club, we have a nice overview of this once prominent club in our sparkling city.  Our goal is to place these photo's on-line on our website in the months to come.  By doing so we hope to keep alive the rich billiard history of the city and province of Antwerp.
